I have had my 2018 Slingshot Grand Touring LE for 12 days and I have had my first component break. When I released the catch on the driver's seat-back to access the storage compartment and retrieve my helmet (California) the headrest contacted the safety latch on the Slingshade gull-wing roof and snapped it clean off.slingshotinfo.com/wcf/index.php?attachment/73697/
Slingshade Safety Latch

Dangit Man!!!
We almost never open our tops so fortunately we haven't done that yet. Give me time though and I'll find a way to screw it up.

There must be warranty coverage for that, yes? For it to break under the normal operation of releasing the seat just isn't right!
(the pic didn't come up for me.)

Yup.....linky no worky. Hopefully it is a warranty item as those tops are rather expensive.

Ohhhh......yeah that panel will have to be replaced.

Definitely a "design flaw" as the dealership just confirmed... Normal operation of the driver's seat back springing forward snapped it off. This is my daily driver... I miss it already.

These latches are a piss poor design to start with! Not sure what route I'll be taking when I break mine off but it will likely be something I design my self.

The whole top is flimsy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,compared to the top on a normal automobile. The top is like a woman, if you like the way it looks, if it takes care of your needs, and if you are happy with it then it is worth whatever you feel like it is worth to you. Someone else may look at her and say, no way I'd put up with that witch for a minute. Myself, I looked at several tops. I even drove a couple with different tops. Then I decided what "I" wanted and bought it. Could it be better? There is always room for improvement! For me and my personal preferences the slingshade fits the bill when compared to anything else on the market. Hopefully someone will soon come out with one that looks as good or better that is twice the quality for half the money but until then I'll stick with what I have. jes my .o2

Is everything like women or are the women like bikes and cars. Either way every time you take a ride it's gonna cost ya!

I wasn't knocking anyone's top, just my observation when I saw one. It looks good, and everyone has to decide what they want. I have an original twist snap top on my red one that I really like. I can grab ahold of the tubing and put my fat ass in while doing a yoga twist to bend in the seat. Plus it has cool overhead storage compartment.

No offense taken sir!
And you are correct that the whole top is flimsy, in comparison to some things. That being said the "A" arms are sturdier than I expected. My post above was just a statement to the fact that any mod is only worth as much or as little as it is worth to you personally.
