• Yeah, July-ish.

Dunno what they have in store, but I did get an online survey from Polaris yesterday. It asked how much I would pay for features like more HP (+25 & +50), HVAC, heated seats, blind spot monitoring, Apple Carplay, airbags, and maybe some other stuff. Their minds are frisky, but dunno if the assembly line will be just as frisky. Sample builds went from $17,500 for a base (bad for resale value of my 2015 base) to $35,000 for a tricked out ride.

    July could be interesting.

  • Polaris plans 10% increase in R&D for 2018. Will be interesting to see where this shows up in the way of SlingShot improvements and or changes in the coming years. They do see a growth for both the Indian and SlingShot brands in an otherwise flat 2018 market.

I did the same survey. I gave them down checks across the board every time they mentioned the slingshade top, the fully tricked-out ride command set, and the automatic transmission. All of those things are no-go's for me, but for anyone who does want them, they can be found better and cheaper on the aftermarket.

  • I really enjoy seeing what they come up with, but in the end for me it really is just for entertainment - I plan on riding my 2016 until one of us dies (hopefully it will go first)

Yeah, I forgot about the AT. They suggested an AT for $1500, maybe more for paddle shift. I would do that. If there is a 3rd party automatic for $1500 let me know.

  • On a side note...Harley sales are dropping and my guess would be they priced themselves out of favor...

Nope... Shrinking market as baby boomers are getting older and not buying new replacement bikes. They have also not been able to market towards a younger demagraphic successful to date.
    That's the short quick answer.

also from what I have read Indian seems to be doing well at cutting into their market

Correct... As bad as this is going to sound the HD image is not what possible new buyer want (under 50).
Indian offers similar experience without the HD aspect. This is the marketing part I spoke if. HD needs to find a solution. They have tried to make everyone happy but at some point you have to move towards the future and how to keep relevant.

Thats absolutely right , Harley is really struggling right now to figure out how to market to Millenials in another decade or three when they reach average purchasers age, I believe todays millenials a couple decades from now will be looking forward to Slingshots and other revolutionary new era vehicles.

  • From everything I read about millenials they don’t want to own vehicles...rather use Uber ...they want to live with mom and dad ...no house buying....they don’t want to wash dishes ...rather eat fast food than sit down restaurants...don’t want Fulltime employment just send money to my moms house...no work ethic...undependable....

They’re ok with socialism/communism, illegal aliens draining the system, free college, voter fraud, sanctuary cities and states and everything to destroy what the baby boomers built.
    What could go wrong?

  • New studies of the oldest millenials show the change in life. They are buying cars that aren't as green as you would expect and they are also having kids and moving into homes just as every generation before have. As much as things change they do stay the same. Just keep watching.
