I have a 2016 base model and am I the only one that wishes the gas gauge was more visible? Has anyone put in an aftermarket
gas gauge and if so elaboration is appreciated

Yeah, it does have that sort of Fred Flintstone sort of user interface. Lots of bricks = lots of gas, few bricks, less so.
It is not very accurate in my 2015, so I wouldn't spend much to make it easier to read.
For long trips, I gas up when I have to pee. Never ran out of gas... Fork the gas gauge.

Yeah it’s a dull unreadable blue at night. Tech is cool but analog it’s cooler! You are correct, the bladder gas gauge is always the most accurate !!

On my 2016 when the 'empty light' comes on I generally have 2 gals of gas left.

Yup. 10s of thousands of miles, and I don't remember putting in more than 8 gallons. Maybe once or twice.

Ok this may be just for us California boys but how many people have to hold back the damn snorkel just to GET gas IN the tank? Pain in the ass trying not to have the trigger pop off all the time!

The “reserve” is probably a gallon, gallon and a half... I run mine down to two bars and usually $20-25 worth of 93 octane tops it off. Around 6 gallons

I have gotten used to resetting trip meter at fill ups and know I can go about 150 miles till fill up time comes around again...

You are running 93? I've been running 89 for over two years. Saved me a lot of coin. Stock engine, no knocks. My baby HATES 87, but I can't find a difference between 89 and 93. I top off with 93 for track day, but don't seem to run any faster. Always the last one back to the pit.

I always start looking for gas after 150 miles
-
I always carry a lot of gas with me, I think it is the meds I take. Don't work in the SS though. Could save a lot of money if it did.
-
Mine seems to work perfectly, one brick equals one gallon of gas exactly. [29 miles per brick}

Anyone out there snug up the stock gas cap at fill up only to have it crazy tight and almost unable to get free at the next fill up? Negative pressure in the tank or just gettin old??
-
I tighten mine pretty good...rather have to work to get it open than buy a new one.

Yup. Negative pressure in the tank. Sometimes it takes a channel lock to loosen. Part of the problem, is the cap is in a small well, and hard to get a grip or any torque on it.
These days, I just twist the cap until it catches with the least resistance, then stop. No problems since. No leaks, no smell, no worries.
