Tickets, speeding or other

  • I have the Escort Passport velcro mounted to the dash, left of the windshield support. Can snatch it off pretty quickly .

Same here. Love it, and it's easy to move from vehicle to vehicle.

  • I have the Escort Redline...super sensitive, great for back road driving
There have been a couple of times I've gotten a hard ping, was like DAMN! I didn't even see him! Slowed down so Leo could catch up...a few minutes later I drive through the speed trap...whew!!

You guys mounting by windshield...are you getting good rearward exposure? I was worried about the fin blocking its view...?

  • Before I became a citizen (long ago) and still had my international (German) driver license I drove in NJ on a rural road from the airport home and was doing 95 in a 45 mph zone. I was pulled over and gave the license and insurance paper (company car) and the officer started yelling at me for speeding and I pretended that I did not understand him, after he looked at my license he said "we don't have the Autobahn here" I responded and said "ah Autobahn" so he jumped up and down and let me go with a warning. When he walked he yelled "If I catch you again I look you up and throw the key away". Well I can't do that anymore (Citizen and own Insurance). :):D

Mine is window mounted, and I've had no problem with rearward exposure issues.

I am still doing that with my company car and German license ( they never expire)
Worked pretty well so far, never got a ticket just warnings. :whistling:

You are correct the license will not expire in Germany, but if you want to transfer a (18 Wheeler driver license) you have to hand over the German license and go for "easier" test. Also are you a citizen, and if so when did you become one? I know you can be dual citizen know. I am a US citizen only and I'm more then proud of it. :)

Edited once, last by mytoy ().

  • So in the slingshot I've only got stopped 2 times for speeding once in Daytona 50 in 35 tune of 300

Then a 90 in a 55 here local missed court date that was only a week after day I got stopped.....Let's just say warrant and all I got extremely luck and paid no fines or any points and warrant dropped.....

Now in other vehicles I'm not even sure how much I've contributed to the fun tax over the last 22 years of driving.....

I live since 1995 in the US I am a permanent resident (green card) still have my German citizenship. I am married to a US citizen and I raised a bunch of Americans. And they all turned out well ( engineers ) and I am more than proud of that.

  • Coming back from SSITS last year I was driving through Georgia and blew past a cop well over 100 mph. I was in the left lane and he was in the middle lane. No radar or anything. I just wasn't paying attention. He pulled me over and wrote the ticket as 90 in a 65. Ended up costing me over $700 and now I'm considered a "Super Speeder" in the state of Georgia.

Trooper: "No one goes through my state that fast, son."

    Me: "Sherman did."

  • When an officer pulls you over for speeding, tell them your ex-wife ran off with a cop. You thought he was trying to give her back.

Got my first ticket in the SS a few weeks ago since I got it 6 months ago. Was on the highway (65 mph posted) and wanted to get around some slow-ass doing 80 mph. I zipped around not realizing there was a LEO a few lanes over. He said he got me over 90. In Arizona, anything over 86 is criminal speeding and subject to arrest and impound of your vehicle. Using my "system" (it's gotten me out of several tickets), when he pulled me over, he knocked it down to 75 so only 10 over. Instead of a $500 ticket, I paid $180 for traffic school so no points on the license and no report to DMV. Now I just have to be a "good, responsible driver" for 12 months.

I get pulled over so regularly it has become a joke with my friends, especially those in law enforcement. Now I just say I'm on a mission to personally meet and greet all LEO's so I can let them know how much I appreciate them and what they do for the community. I speed so they can pull me over, giving me a chance to thank them.

  • I have been lucky so far however, I always ask for a ticket to be written to me under section 111. The fine is usually the same but there is no demerit points. Section 111 in Alberta is failure to follow the rules of the road. My son uses that also except the last time the officer looked up his record and saw a lot of section 111's and gave him the full ticket. The time I got pulled over with a radar detector on the dash I got the full ticket even though I explained that I couldn't hear the beeping over AC/DC.

  • Great attitude @aznative75 !! For the most part LEO's are just folks like us doing a tough job tryin to keep us all safe. I like speed myself but I know if ya play - sometimes ya gotta pay

Every time I get a ticket, I post this template to my social media for my friends to see, along with a copy of the ticket and on a couple of occasions, a photo of me and the LEO.

"In my never-ending quest to personally meet and thank all the LEO's in Arizona for keeping us safe, I got to meet Officer <NAME> with the <Department>. Pleasure meeting you and thanks for writing it up at 75mph instead of the 90+ you clocked me going."

  • Well, I had my first run-in with the fuzz in my Sling today. Came off the highway headed towards the house, hit excessive stop & go traffic, way more than normal. Took off my helmet so I didn't bake (and because I don't give a shit about helmet laws in the SS), and a local LEO (not a Statey!) lit me up from a gorgeous, sneaky, blacked-out Charger. We actually had a good chat - he said "You know you need a helmet, right?" So, not even a warning, got lucky.
