Hey guys! I thought I should share another option for head units on our vehicles. I bought a double din 10.1 inch Android head unit to use in the car with my phone. It took some work to get everything to work but I can integrate the OEM backup camera into it with a front camera that can be turned on at anytime. It is essentially a tablet attached to a double din. I love it. Anyways, here are some photos for you guys. I thought it would be too big but I love it so far.

Now that is Freakin Cool as Hell

On trust me.....it took a lot of cursing to get this thing to work. The instruction manual was 6 pages. I have had Lego books with more detail than this thing. Luckily I work an on-call type of job and spent 3 days in my garage with my co-worker trying a million different configurations. I will say the Scosche wife harness made the backup camera hookup easy along with the head unit power supply. The rest was pretty much trial and error. I love the ability to use offline navigation and can have a front camera. Plus the wife can watch her shows on road trips. This will make the turbo purchase !after this month easier to explain!

I wish I could do electronics without losing my mind!My first electronics school was in 1967,I worked in and around electronics until I retired in 2005. I do not even like to hook up lights on the Slingshot. It is not something that I enjoy doing anymore.

I was a mechanical operator for the Military. They told us to never touch any electrical work. The one time I did on my own......I fried the electrical system in my A4 trying to hook up a toggle switch. I suck at it

So what's the model and do they have something smaller? I'm guessing this was on Amazon?

@slingo Which unit and model is that? I have been running a double din Joying unit for a yr now.
What was today's Sling project-Mods , goodies.....?
Mine is in a slash guard so it won't get wet when i remember to close it. Lol I have thought about the 10" model but don't know if it will fit in the slash guard when the display is taken off.
Do you have any pics with screen removed? Does it remove easily? Can it tilt to almost straight up?

I thought it was one of those tether kill switches... you know in case you fall out of your sling while it is running........BUTT you Just have to find a good solid place to stick it.

It’s a new rear end option (not installed yet)...
(Remember the missing plugs from the recall on the recall?)

Oh my goodness! LOL You guys gave my wife and I a good laugh. We keep out dogs chew toy in the glove box so when we take her to the park she can play fetch (Which she sucks at). This forum is awesome haha.

I looked into the Joying unit but didn't like that I could not adjust the screen. Unfortunately, The screen on this one does not come off so I am going to use it until it is stolen or I get caught in a rain storm. I need to be more careful with the days I drive it. It does tilt a good amount. I hope that will help with the sun glare but I need a sunny day to find out. So far, it has only been night driving and it looks wonderful.

Hey @slingo, you're basically local to me in Brush Prairie (north Vancouver) and @BryanL in Oregon City. We'll look you up when we start planning rides along with @LargeCar when he's up from Oklahoma this spring and summer. We plan on hitting Mt. St. Helens for a calendar shot among other things. Love to have you and your bride join us!
