@MWSlingshot this is where you install an aftermarket M6 bolt to keep the water and road grime out. The consensus is that this was probably for some accessory or item that Polaris decided against. It is open to the inside of the swingarm where bearings and sensor(s) reside.
Just relaying what I've read on the forum.
This was discussed ad nauseum on the Recall on the Swingarm Recall thread. That threaded hole was originally intended for belt guard mounting but a design change led to it not being used. It DOES go through into the hollow portion of your swingarm allowing dirt & moisture to enter (NOT a good thing!). Put a nice stainless screw with a washer in it - problem solved...

Same as stated above it does not serve any purpose but you want to close it up. I just used one of the black plastic push pins, you can get a whole pack of them for cheep.
