The question is can Dougs "Neal" can be traced back to the MacNeil clan from the Isle of Barra, Scotland?

My ancestry has been traced by another in my family that got into genealogy to ONeill, Ireland. I don't have much detail and am not sure about clans. My life has always required me to worry about today and tomorrow but now you've got me curious...

I agree, My time is better spent looking forward and not back. My father used to tell us that he had been told we came from the MacNeils of Scotland, but other than hearsay there is no real evidence. I did one of those DNA things from Ancestry.com a year or so back and it came back with such generic results that I could be almost anything from the Northern Europe part of the globe. In the end I am just another mutt that doesn't really care
