I am in the middle of a porch remodel and my trusty 18v Dewalt cordless drill has finally died. Thinkin bout replacing it with a Dewalt 20v Max XR kit (2 batteries/charger) for bout $200. What are you guys opinion on the best drill/driver ???

I got the combo pack that has the impact driver as well. LOVE IT. I think it was somewhere around $250 for both.

^^^ +1. Have the Milwaukee drill & Sawzall combo, comes in a nice quality bag. Also have the vacuum cleaner which uses same batteries.

Can't go wrong with Milwaukee either. Had all Milwaukee tools in my shop when I was teaching. If they can take a high school students punishment...it HAS to be tough! LOL

I've been happy with Rigid from Home Depot. I think most big names are pretty good. It was the lifetime battery replacement that sold me on the Rigid.
I did have a Dewalt back in the day, it was great. When I replaced it with another Dewalt, the new one's battery life wasn't as good. That was 15 years ago, I'm sure they are back on track by now.

That drill has some serious torque, around 45 lb-ft if I recall correctly. Have several electric drills but haven’t used any of them since getting the cordless. Have had these items for about 3 years - use them frequently & batteries are still going strong...

I am, and have been, a DeWalt man but Milwaukie is probably the highest quality and torque these days. The problem with switching over when the tool dies is the 'investment' in batteries. If I was starting from scratch, I'd pay the small premium to go Milwaukie. The Lithium ion batteries have improved the usability of all of these tools immensely!

I also have the Dewalt 20v combo set of drill and impact driver. Got them a couple years ago for $200 (Cdn) including 3 batteries, a charger and a bag. Very happy. They get used daily and no problems.

I run all dewalt drill for home and car project always been happy I have 12v and 20v liths and probably will never change. When I was in the car audio business I always used the snap on drills and when I switched to dewalt I saw a decent improvement.

I went with 20 volt a few years back, but the batteries and chargers weren't as common as the 18 volt. I got tired of driving an extra 20 miles when a battery took a dump so now I'm using 18 volt tools again. Mine are DeWalt.

I've become a big fan of the Ryobi One+ 18V family of tools. One battery for many different tools. I have a 6-battery charger/conditioner that keeps my spare batteries ready to go. Started with a combo Drill and Driver set with charger and one battery. Then bought a 1/2" Impact driver, blowers, chain saw...
If someone insists on using a power tool t\for the fasteners on the Slingshot, I strongly recommend using a variable-speed drill with adjustable clutch set on the lightest setting. This minimizes torque and will hopefully reduce cross-threaded fasters, etc. Less torque than an impact driver. Even though I have such a drill, I still don't use it on Polaris fasteners since they seem to be made from a cheap grade of soft cheese.

@WOLF - thanks for the tip - I like the lifetime battery replacement - what little I know - I know the tool itself is cheap compared to battery replacement. Is it heavy?? My old Dewalt 18v was a horse but weighed a ton
Bill, at our age, about anything we buy is a lifetime warranty (including milk!).
