This may be old news for some of you but after being a Ford truck guy for many years I may be ready to jump ship. Today my 2016 King Ranch got an “update” via satellite. The first thing I noticed was the radio would not play until you put on your seat belt. Kinda annoying but can live with that. The next flash on the screen was “not to exceed 80 mph”. Well I wound her up and I’ll be damned if when I hit 80 mph she just stopped accelerating. If I had known that “Big Brother” would be getting in the cab of my truck with me I may have considered something else. It’s bad enough they can track you anytime you are in your vehicle but now they are going to control how you drive ?? @rabtech - did you get an “update” on your Raptor - not that you ever drive over 80 mph What you guys think about this ??
Truck Too Smart ????

What the hell! I better not get an update. Mine is being painted right now. So I still dont have it back.
Let me do some checking on what you just brought up..... i will be right back....

My GMC is limited to 98 MPH. I'd be really pissed if it were 80. Course, that was towing a trailer behind it , guess I should try it without the trailer

I'm getting the popcorn!!!!

ok. Just a brief glance over the web ..
You have "My Key" features turned on. There is a menu in your dash that will make certain keys "have limits".
Somehow you either grabbed the key fob that was programmed as a "my key" or maybe your truck updated and by default the "my key" stuff was turned on. So no worries. Just play around with the dash menu and turn that crap back off.
I don't think it is in the radio display menu. It's all in the cluster menu.

And your top speed should be about 101 mph on a King Ranch f150 gas burner...im not sure what the diesel f250 and f350 are limited to. Ita usually based on tired speed rating.
My 2017 Raptor factory cut off is 107mph.
I had the factory limiter of 100mph removed on my 2013 Ecoboost F150 Platinum. It was part of the 5 Star Tuning programmer. It added about 85hp also. But I can tell you at 120mph in that long crew cab truck the whole top starts buckling and making a terrible racket. It's almost like you rolled a window down at 90mph on the interstate. That rumble that sounds like your headliner is about to come out and your ears pop. Only you haven't rolled anything down. Once you get back down to 115mph it goes dead quiet again.... weird.

better check your brides phone - she may have requested the control

the "my key" stuff is so you can give a key to your kids and they can't hear the radio till they buckle up. And you can set the top speed also. So you definitely have that feature turned on.

ok. I.have done my "help someone out" for today....
Bed time .....

Well that was anticlimactic. Although watching Bill try to turn it off could be fun....
-
I was just about to post that @rabtech. Looks like he activated mykey somehow.
beat ya to it....

That's gonna be something to watch.. Think we can get Angie to film it

Thanks @rabtech - that explains a lot. My daughter decided to “Dukes of Hazzard it” Thanksgiving Day into my pond on my Polaris 850 Sportsman (very ) along with my keys and I started using the spare fob . Guess it’s time to get out that freakin encyclopedia instruction manual ... y’all pray for me...it may never run again by the time I’m finished

You will need a key that is not programmed as a my key, ie a master key, to turn off the feature from the key you are using. Probably the key you were originally using.
