Fall Indiana Meet and Greet -- Grissom AFB (Sat, Oct 21st 2017)

Preserving the past... For the future

We will meet at the base museum and have the opportunity to take our Slingshots out to the field where all of the great machines of the past are parked (park under the wing and take a picture).

The base is located about 1.5 hours north of Indianapolis on US 31.
There is a nice restaurant a short distance away where we will plan to have lunch about 2:00 pm.

The museum is run by volunteers and donations. I think they ask for a small donation and have a nice indoor display and gift shop.

Some of us will plan on getting together in La Porte to ride to Grissom...

Got a nice note from the Director of the Grissom Museum --- welcoming the Slingshots for the photo ops to Grissom AFB. Lets all drop a donation into the 'kitty' --- $5.00 We all get to be on the field, but spend a little time in the indoor museum and gift shop --- also lots of neat stuff.

Saturday looks to be a perfect day for riding in Northern Indiana...

From the Northwest we will meet in La Porte, In at the parking lot at Christo's Rest. IN2 & IN 39 9:15 and ride at 9:30

Great day for the Grissom AFB Meet & Greet.....20+ Slingshots from all over the state of Indiana, and a Great friend and his wife Mary from North of the boarder
stopped by for a short time to show off his beautiful new creation finished by @Painter just a few hours earlier. Don't know how he felt have all those US Air
Birds watching over every thing.

Was great to be able to get out on the field and have close up pictures... @Ross no
calendar worry shots in my group --- hopefully somebody got some. Once on the Field
was impossible to get the group together for a group shot.

@Ross Pictures were taken with my "brand new in 1990" Sony picture size 640 x 480 pixels ... not sure that good for your needs...

Looks like a great time. Wish we could have been there @EjFord but we had already scheduled OKC for a 65th birthday party for @HeRSlings brother. We did get the excitement of a tornado about 2-3 miles away. After the 25 years of living on OK we don’t really get that excited unless less than a mile away.

Was a great day... I think that we could do it again next summer. We were all pretty well behaved and I think they will let us back on the field. Wanted to get a group picture with lots of Slings under one of the big Planes....have you ever tried to herd CATS.... Once we got the gates opened everyone went to there favorite
plane.
