I have a friend in La Porte who was hit by a train when riding his bike ... paralyzed from waist down ... built a flatbed 'side car to carry his chair and did not slow down ... he probably still has that set up ... he started a business helping people with chairs, lifts, and any other thing that might make it easier for them to get around. Have never seen him in a power chair, only the one's you propel yourself. If he get a hold of your hand he has it until he wants to let go. besides a van or two, and bikes also has a nice Vette.
When I was growing up (or at least younger) there was a guy in town that did the same. He had an old Honda that had a platform on the side with a extra wheel like what a sidecar would have. He locked his wheel chair in and they had rigged up handle bars and hand controls for him in front of the chair. He use to take kids for rides with them sitting on the bike seat. Was quite the contraption but worked. He drove it for years.
