I did a complete disassembly to paint mine.I used a heat gun to heat the glass and soften the double sided tape. I then used a nylon upholstery tool to work the glass free. Go a low and heat the glass, it will come off. Once the glass in removed you take out one fastener holding the glass mount plate which gives you access to the stalk fasteners.

So did you figure out how to stop the bastards from shaking all over the place?
Yes... Take out the batteries...

Make sure the center screw is tightened down if you take them apart. If not, cut a piece of 1/2 inch hose 1 inch long, split it length wise, then slide it around the inside edge of the mirror.
Not my idea but it works. -

How did you reattach the mirror? What adhesive did you use? -
The red double sided 3 M tape.

The red double sided 3 M tape.
I take it that had held well, no issues? -
it has been good for 6 months now.

if I was going to do it again, I would just replace the glass with the convex ones.

Guys, I got my scoop in and I'm not happy with the results. Also the guy that did it kept trying to increase costs on me as we moved through the project, the fiber lay wasn't great, symmetry was off, and he just seems to be more talk than results. All that said, I can't in good conscience give this guy your money and mine, hoping the results on the mirror housings will be better. I am sincerely sorry that this didn't work out, believe me, I am just as disappointed as any of you folks may be. For those of you that sent me funds for this project, please check your PayPal accounts for the return of your funds. Again, I apologize that this didn't pan out.

Hey @TheRock no apologies needed. You tried and the finished product wasn't up to par. Thanks for calling it off before it turned into a big mess. Thanks again for trying.
Hey @Rob the Slob, I really appreciate that! Still, though, I understand that some are probably going to be very disappointed. I am, I had high hopes... really starting to loose faith in folks that provide custom products... -

I know a few fabricators that may be able to help. -

Hey Mitch, I'll shoot you some pictures, but I'm not looking to do anything else right now, I'm tired of dumping money into this sink hole, I'm probably going to just go ahead and put her up in long term storage and just forget about her for the next couple years. She's a heart breaker and a black hole for my wallet! -

@mytoy I got orders to Spain so she has to go up into storage anyway...
-
Sorry to hear that Lucas. I was hoping it might be a long term supplier but alas, it is difficult to find good, long lasting custom work.
Maybe when you get back from Spain and move to Texas everything will be better.
