Hurricane Irma

  • To all the Slingshot family along the east coast no reason to be alarmed yet but if Irma starts to threaten the east coast NOW is the time to start formulating your plan. A potential Cat 5 is a force that you cannot imagine. I hope this thing stays far out in the Atlantic but if not you must be prepared. If you live within 25 - 30 miles from ocean this should be your plan - get as far inland as you can get. The amount of storm surge that comes in with a storm like this is incredible - and the water does not come in gradually like in Houston but in huge sweeping waves. When Hurricane Ike hit TX/LA coast it was only a Cat 3 and I had 3 ft of Gulf water covering my property and I live 25 miles from the coast. This is pics of Holly Beach, a small Gulf community bout 30 miles from me

Completely annihilated by water and wind. Lots of folks have never experienced anything like this and some may have a tendency to be passive until too late. DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE!! Monitor this storm closely and implement your plan early if it has its sights set on you. Please stay safe my friends !!

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

  • As warm as the Gulf of Mexico is - God help us if it makes it into there - afraid it will really blow up !!!

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

  • I saw something yesterday and it said right now around the eye wall the waves are 55 feet. Not a misprint 55 feet and it's getting bigger. Look out east coast. Predictions I saw put it onto the east coast Friday. Heading towards Washington up the bay. Water levels will double or triple from being forced into the narrow end of the bay. Catastrophic results.

  • The predictions seems to be warning of the biggest storm to ever come close to the US mainland... I read yesterday, FL has already declared a state of emergency. Stay safe down there at sea level. We are keeping everyone in out thoughts.

Here to assist anyone in the Denver area.

  • You are certainly right @Jonathan Thompson - this bad bitch looks like it's gonna be worse than Hurricane Katrina !! At this point nobody on the coastal mainland is safe yet - this has the potential to make Harvey look like a rain shower !! Start making preparations NOW !!

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

  • The problem is the "cone of possibility" is showing the entire state as being a possible track of the storm. So where the hell do you go? Still too early to pack the bags and head for the hills. But if it's going to be a direct hit near us, we're heading out. probably try to find some casino that has room available. I'm sure they'll have back-up power sources, food and water

    Nobody gets outta here ALIVE

  • This may sound a bit odd in today's time. If you can take some wooden pallets, plywood and a few inflated tires under them, that can be used as a raft to hold people or possessions to get to a secure area. Drastic measures for drastic times!

  • I read yesterday, FL has already declared a state of emergency.

Standard for FL to declare SOE five days out, the Governor must issue an evacuation order for the Keys at least three days before projected Tropical Storm force winds shut down the bridges to the mainland.

Still too early to figure out a direction .. from our area if the current Navy model hold true (the Navy and Euro models are the only ones I pay attention to) going West or North could be a mistake.
