So my lease is up on my Lexus SUV next June... I was hoping to purchase the model 3, but turns out I won't be able to purchase one until late 2018 since I never reserved one... So I was looking at the used model S... They're running around 50kish with 30 to 40k miles.... What are pros n cons? My main concern is how long the battery would last.. We have solar panels (we lease them, not own), we are paying 15 cents per kilowatt hour... With all the talk about tesla losing money daily, just wondering if it would be a smart buy.
Opinions on purchasing a used tesla model S

Yea... I was hoping to get an unbiased opinion lol... If someone who didn't own a slingshot came into this forum and asked "should I buy a slingshot", I'd imagine it would be a 100 percent "yes" lol

I've been trying to get my wife to look at the Tesla 3. For a work and back car it would be perfect.
We also have solar on our house.
The model S is one of the safest cars out there.
This website has a good inventory

Wicked !!!!!!!

yep. Tesla in "ludicrous mode" is an evil beast. Its almost impossible to beat instant full power torque and all wheel drive.

I think it is a great idea, as long as you find a used one that is capable of autopilot.
Easiest way to tell is to see the car. If you see the car, the sensors are obvious, especially the front radar under the nose cone
If you can't see the sensors, check the build date. July 2014 no. Aug 2014 not that I have seen so very probably not. Sept 2014…maybe. Oct 2014 50/50. Nov 2014 yes.Personally I would go with a dual motor car because they are more desirable and you know they are autopilot capable.
If you haven't already, get on Turo and find one to rent for a day or two. It is a very affordable way to see how much you fall in love with it.
I'm patiently waiting for Model Xs to lose some value so the economics make sense to buy one.

In the April 17' issue of Car and Driver they did an extensive review of their 40K mile long term test of a 2015 Model S P85D. While some of their specific complaints can be attributed to owning an all electric in a Northern clime it is still one of the only real world test and unbiased articles I have seen on the vehicle.

I saw my first Tesla yesterday and did not even know what it was until I looked at the Drag video.

^^^ Agree - it's just 'wrong' on so many levels...
