I have read discussions on the installation of vents on top of the front fenders to relieve the air pressure and thus reduce fender flapping. Has anybody tried adding vents to the inner fender to achieve the same result, but without placing vents on the top? Just a thought. Please excuse the dirt in the inner fender pic - just came back from an ice cream cone run when I had this thought.

Got Vents?

Were those inner fender vents effective in reducing fender flapping? And where is the source of the vents you used?

all that info is posted in the Fixed flappy fender thread

Much of the venting I have added was to reduce drag. The vents on the back of the fender splashes are snowmobile hood vents. I have no idea if they would help on the fender flap since I added them long after I had any flap. The holes towards the top of the fender splash above the existing vents would have some effect but most likely not large enough to have a big effect. These holes are out of site, in a pocket that would accumulate air and in a direct path of air flow. I believe this is the area that you were first questioning, being they are out of site you have nothing to lose by adding them first to see how much effect they may have, plus they are just trianglar holes and cost nothing.

While that thread was very informative, it didn't address whether or not merely adding additional inner fender venting (rather than in combination with fender top vents) would be helpful. But that was where I saw mniron's vents.

Good idea. That is what I will do. Thanks.

You could easily make the holes a little larger or add a third one to provide some more square inches for flow.

How much are these hood buttons? Where can they be ordered at?

While I was taking some other photos I thought I would add a couple to this thread. Fender and engine compartment vents

Another vent. Homemade. They seem to reduce fender flap somewhat.
