Today I found the small grease needle that will work to grease the universal joint. It is a Lincoln needle nozzle part number 5803. OReilly auto parts has it for $14.99. I got them to come down to $9.99, price match. Walmart.com has it to order for $6.62. I have not used it yet but I am sure it will work a lot better than the 4 inch needle. The needle is 1/8 inch coming down to a point of less than 1/16 of an inch. The whole thing is 2 3/4 inch long.

Don't mean to "needle" you about this. You're a better man than I, as I could never get the needle to work without shooting 90% of the grease all over the place. I just ground the crap out my grease gun regular nozzle end until I could get it to fit on there and greased from the top down via the cup holes.

I bought an injector needle and was going to try that next but this looks much better! -
The 5803 needle works perfect, no fighting to get into the ball of the fitting.
I'l have to re-learn the whole grease procedure again- just won't seem right if the first few tries don't spew grease all over the damn place, needing half a roll of paper towels to clean the mess up!

Where did you get that end on your grease gun - I have never seen one quite like it......LOL

I've used the needle for my last 4 u-joint greases. It has always been a bitch to get it to fit without missing from the back cup holder position. Then I saw a thread that said to remove BOTH cup holders. Wow, that worked. Remove both and grease from the front cup holder. Worked the first time because the angle is perfect to get the needle seated properly and you can see what you are doing.

This may be a dumb question but what brand and what type of grease you all recommend for the Slingshot?

I don't think you can go wrong with any decent grease..It's a bunch better than totally dry which seems to be how many left the factory.
