Talk about humor - saw Larry Flynt the huge supporter of women’s rights thru porn production and Hustler Magazine has offered $10 million dollars for info leading to the impeachment of Trump. I like a good porno or naked hot women just as much as the next guy but for this guy to get up on a soapbox is just another instance of how hypocritical the left really is !!

Bill, you know I love you. And on one hand, I can see where you're coming from with this. On the other hand, racism still exists, and you know that. People are still suffering from the results of Jim Crow laws. I know you've seen racism. Hell, the town I lived in for high school threw stones at Oprah when she came to visit, and the Grand Dragon from the KKK used to live the next town over. You have friends on this forum who have been pulled over for driving while black. Stupidity exists. Racism exists.
The problem (as far as this uneducated cis white woman can see it) is that the issue isn't as simple or as cut and dry as we like to make it seem. The problem that people are pointing out, in this instance increased violence of police officers against African Americans, is just a symptom of the larger problem. Until we look at the root of the problem and attempt to do more than just throw money and tantrums at it, very little progress will be made on any front.
On the flip side, for my African American friends, when white folks ask what we can do to help, or what the black community needs from us, it is not because we are being flippant. It's because we actually give a shit, but when we make recommendations we get called racists who have no idea what the problem is. As I explained to a friend of mine, it is a conversation that generally goes like this:
P1: I have a problem.
P2: How can I help?
P1: Why do you always have to ask how you can help, just help.
P2: Okay then, here's a solution.
P1: You don't even know what the problem is, so how the hell can you provide a solution?
P2: You're right. Okay, so what's the problem?
P1: It doesn't matter, there's no way you could ever understand the problem, so just fuck off.
P2: Okay, so if I don't know the problem, and you can't tell me the problem because I cannot understand, then what is left for me other than to ask how I can help?So yeah, standing by for incoming fire from both sides. In the meantime, I'm going to go make gravestone markers for my front yard for Halloween. Can we all get back to bashing the President now?

I apologize for pulling out a single statement since I found your post thoughtful ....however ....
I have been pulled over several times for driving while "white" (technically I am not) just to see why I am in the neighborhood I am driving through .... told straight out that is why I was stopped.... happens often down here as well as elsewhere ..... there are also towns down here you don't dare drive through after dark as a "white" person ....

I'm not going to disagree with your statement at all. What I will say is that many of the neighborhoods that you dare not drive through are fallout from the Jim Crow laws. African Americans were limited to where they could get housing. Literally they could not get a mortgage if it wasn't for a particular neighborhood. Do white neighborhoods have a similar reason?
I'm not trying to be argumentative, I am just trying to say that there is a reason behind the protests. Now, how 'bout North Korea.

The biggest problem I have with South FL is the "newness" of most of the state with very little history represented in its communities and few families being more than second generation residents ....
Most of these towns where either not in existence ... or where unrecognizable smaller versions of what they are now at the abolition of Jim Crow. They have grown mostly in the last 30 years and not all discussed are predominantly of Americans with African heritage.

Strangely they can also be found mostly in the blue areas of this map ........

There is so much I could say about BLM, BAMN, ANTIFA, etc. ~> but I’ll keep it tame with this: The moment you have one single opposing opinion about their message and/or protest actions, you WILL be outcast and most likely called a racist, Uncle Tom, or something to that effect. Identiy politics in these groups only work if you denounce your views and fully accept theirs... Effectively, keeping the racisim narrative alive because no one wants to be considered an oppressor.

After 150 years of freedom just how long does it take someone to improve themselves. why are the crime numbers so high even on black on black crimes and the numbers that are in prison. As long as someone wants to help themselves I am willing to help them.

its cyclical. Between school, poverty, family constructs, and other social and economic drivers, its a cycle that hasn't been broken yet.
For instance, man gets arrested for a crime committed for whatever reason. Woman is left to care for kids. Kids are in a school that performs below national standards. Mom has to work 3 jobs just to keep a roof, kid doesnt know if there is going to be food. Kid drops out to find work to help pay for siblings, gets involved in illegal activities, gets arrested, and the cycle repeats. Even if they don't drop out studies have acknowledged that school perfoemance is affected by outside stressors like... Oh, lack of food and parental involvement. Kid can't get into a good school, gets a job making minimum wage in the same district, cycle repeats. Happens in poor white communities too, although those have a tendency to be in rural vice urban areas.

You left out the "public assistance" programs pushed in those communities that are designed to lock them in the cycle rather than help them succeed ....

As a matter of fact @sideseatdriver s post I quoted made it a point to mention "poor white communities" and my previous post also made clear the areas I was discussing where not all Americans of African heritage ..... the worst areas in my neck of the woods are not ....
