Ok, now that I've set myself up to be derailed in the first response to this post....
I am looking for someone who makes wood furniture or does finish work. Have a question about furniture care, need pro advice. Thanks.

I've built a ton of custom furniture, built-ins, and finish carpentry with my father. What's your question?
Me too , what are you wondering about KayTwo?
@WraithSS, @Travis, it's pretty simple. We have a dining table, real wood, distressed and other deep texture, and the instructions when we got it said "treat occasionally with high quality furniture polish." I assume they're not talking about spray Pledge. What would you recommend to use for a surface that you eat on?

Well look at you, Mr. I'm-All-High-Class-And-S&$%. When I was a kid growing up in ME, we didn't have store-bought plates, we had to fashion ours out of birch bark and rhubarb leaves. Stop showing off - your white privilege is showing.
We use lemon oil.

Y'all sure are fancy! Birch bark....we mixed clay mud and straw, fashioned that into plates and bowls...utensils well that's what we got hands for ain't it!
Clarks cutting board oil, or food grade mineral oil is safe for surfaces you wish to eat or prepare food on.
You will probably get different answers from everyone as it is like car care products. It will be on a personal preference level. Very little testing is done to prove who is better.
But, from my grandfather down we have used Renaissance micro-crystalline wax polish or if you prefer a liquid then Howard Feed-N-Wax will do the trick. I believe you can get both products from Amazon now. Most of the items you get from your local stores will only last a short time and in most cases will attract dust/debris and will cause build-up that needs to be removed with cleansers.
Be very careful what you put on your wood - could result in undesirable stains

@Bill Martin you should not sleep on the table....
