Automotive News reports that Hyundai Mobis, the company that supplies the old Wrangler’s chassis, has filed a WARN notice of mass layoffs with the state of Ohio that it is planning to let 572 workers go do to a discontinuation of production on April 7, marking D-Day for the so-called JK Wrangler.
That’s because the facility it operates is being retooled for the upcoming Jeep Wrangler-based pickup, which will possibly be called the Scrambler when it goes on sale. When will that be? According to the WARN notice, Hyundai Mobis expects to resume production sometime after April 1, 2019.
Jeep hasn’t commented on the report, but the date meshes with previous statements from Jeep brand boss Mike Manley that the pickup would be coming in “late 2019.” If nothing else, it pretty much confirms that it won’t be showing up earlier than expected.
...........
.
EDIT: So layoff all your workers for a year ...re-tool....start back up .... how many of those experienced workers do you think will return to the line ..... no wonder first year vehicles have so many problems ....

How about this.... Honest to God it got delivered to a dealer this way. Brand new JL Wrangler sport. Look close.... One front fender flares is correct. The other is a the new hi-clearance Rubicon flare with LED DRL. This thing went down the line and inspection I'm sure a few times and then got shipped to the dealer. We get to play with it because they can't sell it until a replacement flare is sent.

This is the day I have been waiting for.. I was getting ready to build another Jeep truck and hopefully be happy with new one.
I have had 5 jeep vehicles and wish I would have kept 3 of them ..
Now you wonder 37 ford yes it has a Jeep Wagoneer chassis under it..
I do regret letting that one go,The 2006 unlimited wish I would have kept it and the 1958 Jeep FC was a chevy 350
and that was hairy to drive but it was so dam big my garage felt lonely.
Because now it houses small vehicles like Slingshot ,Vanderhall , Mini and wife Sub..
And I want a convertible truck this time. And it has to be a 2 door only truck with no extended cab ..

Yup, Upper management types don't give a shit about experience workers inside production environments. It really is a shame that feel this way.
