how did you attach the other side to keep it from flopping?
Home made rear fender...

If your asking about mine I attached it to the front of the swing arm

how did you attach the other side to keep it from flopping?
To use a rear bracket like that one requires drilling and tapping a hole in the swing arm...

The one I had on there was a Northern Tool fender that I cut down..Only cost 29 bucks.
Is this the NT fender you used - Tow Zone Single Round Steel Fender Fits Single 13in.14in. Tires, 28 1/2in.L x 9in.W x 13in.H | Single Steel Trailer Fenders| Northern Tool + Equipment?

This is my version of rear fender. I've had to do some tweaking along the way and now have the final result pictured. The main problem was getting the struts right / strong enough to prevent breakage from vibrations.

Only problem I found with cutting 2 fenders to get the width is the trailer fenders are not flat across the centre but have an arch. At least what I found locally. That's why I just cut the edges off to use and added the centre pc to make up the width
so true, I,ve built a few dollies already and each time I have to hand sort through the fenders at the trailer wholesaler to find ones that haven't been overbent then rebounded as much as others, you would think that with a stamping die there would be consistency but there definitely are some bent better then others.

It's 16 gauge steel. It's solid but I wouldn't say heavy, never really weighed it but I didn't feel concerned about it

Thanks, looks like I am going to have to improve my welding skills and learn to paint.

Looks similar but it was almost 3 years ago that I did this. I still have the fender and measured it. That might very well be it, it was about 9.25" across the top before the curved sections and close to 10" including the flares.

This may sound insane, but...if I put and anvil attached to the rear fender, will that help with traction?

I don't know...anvils just don't see to work well for anybody

Bought my rear fender off eBay supposed to fit a "big dog chopper". Looks good as far as size and radius, just need to fab brackets to mount it.

Pics, or link, for an idea of what you're starting with?

As soon as I get home I'll shoot a pic. Looked on eBay and only found fiberglass ones for the big dog and I think they are to small. A talented guy could fab on a mould and glass some fenders for us.

I think the anvil would be better placed on the rear deck to avoid all that unsprung weight. A passenger might be a better choice.

Just in from the hanger. Pics on ladder give you an approx size, pics of mockup. May go a bit higher on actual mount.
Center picture on wheel is without any blocking up.
