How are the cup holders held in place in the arm rest?
I want to pull them out but tried a screw driver and slight force. But didn't want to break any plastic tabs.
Going to remove wrap the bottom in insulation and reinstall
Thanks

I believe there are 3 tabs holding it in
So do I just pull the cup holders up or will that snap those tabs
I put a thin cloth between the lip on the cup and the console area, to avoid any scratching. use a thin screwdriver blade, pop 1 at a time, and you will be fine
those tabs you mention, are they around the top lip of the cup holder, like you could run the tool around the circumference of the lip and loosen them all?
they are a little more than 1/8" below the lip
I believe I saw @slingking remove them in a video about greasing the u joint on the slingshot enthusiast page A how to: Greasing the Polaris Slingshot U-joint. – The Polaris Slingshot Enthusiast Page

Yet another good use for @'rabtech''s awesome 'bookmark' feature. Thanks!

Awesome perfect info. I did the heat mgnt kit update and that helped the cup holders stay cooler. But now going to add insulation tape to the backside for extra heat rejection. Hopefully keep water cooler longer.
Get a really wide flat blade screwdriver and put under the lip of them. Then twist it. It will have 3 or 4 dimples that have it held in.
Make sure its a wide screwdriver. You don't want to dig into the lip and not raise it.
You can always do like I did the first time and put it on a lift and hit them from the bottom side and pop them out.
.
As Rabtech mentioned reach underneath and push the bottom of each to one side .... this releases two of the locking tabs .... then remove from the top ....
No chance of slipping and damaging your paint or messing up the edge of the cup holder this way ....
When you put them back in try to line up the locking tabs with their original installed locations and they will be easier to remove next time .....
.
I did like Rab said except I used 2 wide blade screwdrivers. Got one side up a little bit with minimal pressure then slid another one it to help pop cup up. Don't pry up and down with the wide blades (thin) just twist the handle side to side.P.S. when you have it out wrap some thin insulation around the cup (don't get it over the tabs) before you put it back in. It'll help keep cool drinks cool.
Using this adhesive insulation
if you have these hanging around they work great. They are plastic.
I found if you grab the inside of each cup with both hands and press out as you pull up they will pop right out plus it's a good stress reliever.
thanks everyone I will work on it tonight after dinner.... just was worried i was breaking something .. silly me... when the side panels are kept in place by double sided sticky tape...
its already noticeably cooler with the heat shroud installed behind the radiator (Heat Mgmt Kit). so wrapping the cup holders in insulation should be the final step to keeping my drinks cooler longer.
I popped them out with a flathead and wrapped them with DEI cool tape and it helped a lot. I did leave the drain hole on the bottom open
