Luggage

I would use those.

That setup is way cool! Found the website, but I can't open it from a government server.
There are several threads on this forum with some great luggage ideas, but one of the neatest I've seen was this post:
What was today's Sling project-Mods , goodies.....?
Then from there, scroll down to post #1034 to see more responses on it.Also, I liked this setup from @lrobbi:

LOOKS NICE, BUT THE STRAPS AS I SEE THEM WILL RUB AGAINST THE BACK BEHIND THE SEAT, THERS GOES THE PAINT. ALSO IF YOU HAVEA BULLET ROOF LIKE I DO YOU WOULD HAVE TO CUT A SLOT IN THE TOP OF PIECE THAT GOES OVER THE HEADREST. WOULD NEED TO SEE MORE PIC'S TO BESURE.

THE WEB SITE SAYS ITS COMING SOON.

Maybe the bag seen at SSITS was the prototype, undergoing operational testing...

Their phone number is 423-967-1821...you could call them I imagine that would be OK

Posted a question on their (empty) webpage. We'll see what happens.

Hey folks
I went a different route as it comes to luggage. Months ago on the dark side, someone had posted about a set of motorcycle soft bags that he was able to secure on the rails on the driver and passenger sides so the bags sat outside of the cockpit compartment just behind each front fender wells
They are pretty big but don't seem to
interfere with getting our out of the sling. They also come with waterproof covers. I'm going to leave them on for a while with some weight in them and see how they do.
I might have to tweak the straps but we'll see.
But they were only a ~$100 bucks or so.

Oh I wanted to add that they are:
Givi EA100B Easybag Expandable Saddlebags 35 liters.
I got them from twistedthrottle.com.
They are $130.00.

@DocG I have the same bags. My wife and I used them to go to SSITS and back to Michigan. They work awesome. You seem to have them strapped how I did. You just need to use the supplied bungies and two more. Hook one end where the shoulder straps hook, wrap around the bar until tight and hook other end of bungie to the same shoulder strap loop. Do the same for all four shoulder straps. They hold great and don't flutter in the wind at all.
If you need illustration of bungies, I can put mine on again for you. It's a pretty simple thing.

There was somebody way in the before time that posted about them. I too forget who, but they are who I copied.
Here's some pics @DocG . I put my front straps and bungies between the frame and the speaker wires. I don't want them getting pulled. My bags are empty, when you fill them for a trip and then strap and bungie them it's actually easier. Bungieing it up empty is strange.
Are you heading up I-94 to Port Huron, if so maybe we can meet up. We could tag along for a bit.
-
I am heading up via I-94. email or pm me where you are at. I'm sure I'll leave early but it's still an 11 to 12 hour drive. But I have time, plus I'm not sure if I'll do it over two days or not.
While I think the sling is comfortable, this will be the first longest trip.

I have the luggage on our slingshot. Have about 2000 miles with them on to test. There is no rubbing on paint at all. The material also has a backing so it won't rub. But, you are correct that it won't work with your roof. If we have some one in our area with the roof that we could work with, we could possibly come up with a adjustment.

We are sorry for the website being so slow. We are a small marine canvas business with just myself and husband. This is our busy time for boats. We hope to have it up in a couple weeks. Meanwhile we do have the luggage and you can call us at 423-967-1821. I will answer any questions you have.

Excellent, thank you for the response! As a small business entrepreneur myself, I know all too well the struggles with growing and maintaining a small family business. Now that we know what kind of a timeline to expect, I don't think there's any issue with waiting for your timeline to iron itself out (at least speaking for myself). Good luck, look forward to hearing more about your product(s)!
