  • Welcome gentleman. I grew up on the south east side @CHGOSLINGSHOT. 106th and Ave J to be more specific. I now live in LaPorte, IN about 50mins east of you. Not too far if your ever looking for a friend to ride with. I still have plenty of friends left " in the hood."

So the secret is in the towels. I have a number of the large double ply microfiber towels to use. Last spring my SS was full of swirl marks. It took the purchase of two polishers and at least 6 different products before I found the right combination that did the job. Not to mention about 20 man hours. What got the job done was a Grott DA polisher used with Meguires Ultimate Compound. Stay away from the cheap $80 polishers. They don't have enough power. Because of all this time and money spent I …

I have a black SS which we all know is toughest to keep clean. I am curious about this "dry washing." Is it just using Slick Mist or something similar? I use it to get rid of water marks after I wash it with conventional soap and water. I would think that if you use a detailing spray to wash a dirty SS that you would end up having swirl marks in the paint. Black paint is beautiful if it has a deep mirror like finish. If it is full of swirl marks it looks like crap. What do you use FunCycle? And …

I knew I was going to do my own stereo and get custom wheels any way so the savings helped pay for what I wanted. After doing all my cosmetic custom work (performance starts next year) I thought that the plastic oem seats looked ugly. If it came with the seats that they come with now I probably would have kept them. The original seats were not uncomfortable IMO but the material used was ugly.…

  • I purchased aftermarket wheels where the offset was not right. I don't remember exactly but thy were close to a centimeter wider all the way around. I have no issues. And didn't throw any codes. If anything my turning radius is slightly wider but not enough to make it a concern.

  • Thanks for all the replies and recommendations. I'm going to get the Novus kit for removal and Rejex for protection. This community rocks.

  • I just spent two days and about 18 man hours removing all the light scratches and swirl marks from my black SS. I tried a few different products then finally broke down a bought a DA Polisher and some Meguires Ultimate Compound followed with Ultimate Liquid Wax to get that black mirror finish I was after. Now I want to get rid of the swirl marks in my Madstad windshield. I do not think any of the products used and designed for "paint correction" will work. Wondering what you guys use? I'm thinki…

  • Well the seat arrived Saturday. The quality and look are great. I placed the seat on a creeper that converts to a chair and sat in it. I love the way it hugs my sides. It fits great. Just waiting on my planted seat base to arrive for the install. Now I am wondering how I can make the stock seat belt work with these. I am not interested in a harness. It's too confining for me and I want the freedom that a retractable seat belt provides. Does the seat base provide a spot to mount the seat belt rec…

  • I think those that are posting HP #s above 300hp also have had the motors rebuilt with better internals. I wonder what the true cost of having a 400+ hp SS is? Because, at that point it is just a number. You can't plant that kind of HP to the ground with the light rear ends that the SS has.

  • Those are nice looking seats! I'll be watching for your results. Where and how muchee? Many online retailers sell them for $749 a pair. I have not found one site cheaper than another. CarID seems to have the largest selection. However they do not come with a vehicle specific bracket, only the sliders. Had to order the bracket from Slingmods for an additional $280. That brings the total cost to $1030.

  • I am sure you are going to need the planted seat base sold by Slingmods to make these work. I have a local Bike Ride/Show to attend Saturday. I am hoping that if I order them today Fed EX will have them here by Friday. I'm going to roll the dice and make this happen. I'll keep you posted with pics of course. Fingers Crosssed.

  • I have done a lot of research on these seats and am ready to buy. The seats I want will be black with red stitching. They are made of PVC Leatherette which I think will hold up better than real leather. They probably are not waterproof however Braum makes a vinyl seat cover that they ship with their Elite X Diamond series seats to protect them while doing any " Tuner " work. I found that out after watching a review video found here: \youtube.com/watch?v=Fph-FiUrMrM If they are not included in th…

My mistake. I thought it was cast metal. It is heavy and has the feel of a metal knob. Common sense should have told me that it would get hot in the sun.

I have a metal shift knob and have no issues with it being too hot to touch. After ordering a threaded shift knob adapter from Slingmods the options on shift knobs are endless. My shift knob isn't even threaded but instead comes with a plastic sleeve that goes over the threads and three set screws to keep it in place. slingshotinfo.com/index.php?at…b37f34b2f88f852fd16aa51b5

  • I also rented the steering puller from autozone and figured out that I needed to get the 10-32 bolts from my local Ace hardware store for it to work. I ended up snapping the 10-32 bolts. Resorted to manhandling it off with the aid of a hard plastic mallet.

  • I am surprised how many people still have never seen a SS or know what it is. I mean they been out for awhile now. I too had one individual call it a Ferrari. I laughed and replied " I wish." before explaining what it is. Nearly everytime I am gassing up I get asked if someone can take a picture. No one has ever tried to get in for their pic they usually stand next to it. But when kids are involved I always invite them to sit in it. They get really surprised and I know I made their day.
